Today is a sad day in Peru. Today at 12:55pm local time, in Lima Peru, one of the most identifiable voices of our beloved peruvian “criolla” music, Arturo “Zambo” Cavero Velasquez died.

Musica Criolla, a popular genre in Peru was born as the result of the mixture of cultures taking place in colonial Peru. Music and dance influences from African slaves, Spanish and Andean gave life to our identity as a new nation.

Rest in Peace and Thanks for all the great memories.

Salud Zambo hoy la jarana es en tu nombre.
